Official description[]
v2.x[]
"Even though Soviets and the Epsilon are using airforce now, we still own the skies!" - said President Dugan short while before Epsilon assault over Washington DC. Because Allied Airforce Command HQ was expensive, and it could store up to only four aircrafts, Allies decided to construct lighter but cheaper airpads, which can also hold their planes. Support Airpads make Allied airforce possible to be developed faster and cheaper, though late availability during the battle disables possibility to count only on the aircrafts. It has one disadvantage though, in order to construct aircrafts, Allies must have at least one ACHQ, because planes can only be hold and reloaded at Support Airpads, not built directly in them.[1]
v1.2[]
"Even that Soviets and PsiCorps are using airforce now, we still own the skies!" - said Mr. President short time ago. Because Allied Airforce Command HQ was expensive, and it could store up to only four aircrafts, Allies decided to construct lighter but cheaper airpads, which can also hold their planes. The Support Airpads are much smaller and cheaper than ACHQ, but those are light and late available during the battle. Only Allies can use it, so it makes a compulsion for us to use more expensive airpads... Anyway it has another big weakness: to construct aircrafts, Allies must have at least one ACHQ, because the Support Airpads can only hold planes, not built them.[2]
Behind the scenes[]
- The icon of the Support Airpad in version 1.2 is based on the icon of the Airstrip from Tiberian Dawn and the Airfield from Red Alert.
