Mental Omega Wiki

The Pacific Front (often shortened to PF) is one of three subfactions of the Allied Nations. It is a military alliance formed by various East Asian and Pacific nations such as Japan, Australia, South Korea, the Philippines, and Indonesia to deter the emerging threat of the People's Republic of China.

Official description[]

The Pacific Front is the most recent member of the Allied forces, who hastily joined when the threat of China began to loom on the horizon. Due to the need to quickly mobilize as many forces as possible in preparations for the war, the modern Pacific Front arsenal is partially comprised of former civilian or law enforcement machines converted into military weapons, with help of the renowned Kanegawa Industries. Behind the scenes, it is an organization loosely comprised of people with clashing ideologies - groups that each have their own vision of what the Pacific Front's future in the world should look like.

Combining long-range weaponry and cryogenic tech, the Pacific Front offers a lot of versatility to their allies. Their hero Norio, donning the mighty ‘Garuda’ power armor, their Black Eagle fighter jets assert the absolute dominance of the Pacific Front over the skies, while the Hyperion keeps it clear of enemy threats.[1]

Pre Third Great War[]

Prior to the Third Great War, the Korean peninsula was divided between North Korea and South Korea. The former would align with the People's Republic of China, while the latter aligned with the Pacific Front.

Nearby, the United States of America subjugated the nation of Japan and turned it into an American protectorate. During this time, a pro-Chinese faction within Japan entered a secret pact with China, possibly due to resentment over the American occupation of Japan. Sometime later, Japan held a vote between securing their independence or joining the so-called "American Union". The Japanese voted to regain their independence, but the "pro-Chinese" elements of Japan would remain and the consequences of this would haunt the Allies, the Soviet Union, and even Yuri's Epsilon in the war to come.

At some point in time, the Pacific Front was formed with Japan and South Korea as members. Additionally, the military research group known as Kanegawa Industries became affiliated with the Pacific Front.

While Soviet Russia suffered greatly under Allied sanctions, China was comparatively unscathed, and thus, could amass a powerful army that threatened the East. Afraid of the rising threat from China, the Pacific Front hastily joined the Allied Nations to deter future Chinese aggression. The Pacific Front military was formed only recently at this time, as evidenced by the haphazard militarization of former civilian and law enforcement vehicles to quickly assemble a complete arsenal.

On 7 March 1982, the newly formed Soviet Union invaded the United States and European Alliance. Although the Pacific Front joined the Allied Nations, the Front sat out the initial stages of the war, because according to the Russians, the Pacific Front were largely indifferent to America's interests, and thus, abandoned the United States to the invasion.

Later however, the Pacific Front suddenly entered the war by launching invasion of Russia at Vladivostok and Dalnegorsk, but were repelled by Russian forces. Unbeknownst to the Russians and even to members of the Pacific Front loyal to the Allies, the invasion of Vladivostok was a halfhearted operation, likely commanded by pro-Chinese Pacific Front forces that intended to conceal the Sino-Japanese pact.

Meanwhile, a division of Pacific Front forces (henceforth dubbed the "pro-Allied" faction) along with Kanegawa Industries researchers were deployed overseas in a joint operation with the European Alliance. A branch of Kanegawa Industries combined with Europe's SteinsTech to form the FutureTech corporation in order to develop advanced weapons for Europe and the Pacific.

After the United States fell, the Europeans and pro-Allied faction setup an espionage facility in Canada to steal technology from the remains of the American nation for their own interests. As a result, the Europeans and pro-Allies were able to hijack the American Mercury Satellite network armed with orbital lasers. The pro-Allies and European Alliance also collaborated on a new superweapon, by experimenting with weather manipulation crystals in research labs in Allenbach, Germany, which were later relocated to the U.S. Virgin Islands.

In Europe, the pro-Allies helped free the continent from the nuclear threat of MIDAS ICBMs, by providing resources to American operatives in order to destroy the MIDAS enrichment facilities and TOPOL-M launchers. This cooperation with the US, however, was not entirely well-intentioned, because the pro-Allied faction and European Alliance were using the Americans as bait to draw out the remaining MIDAS warheads. Once discovered, the Pacific Front and European Alliance launched an assault to destroy the last two remaining MIDAS warheads but failed.

Despite their effort, almost none of the weapons created by FutureTech would become relevant in the war. After the downfall of the United States, the Soviet Union turned their full attention against Europe, destroying several SteinsTech facilities and severely disrupting Kanegawa weapons research. To make matters worse, China formally entered the war and invaded Japan. This activated pro-Chinese traitors within Japan who subverted Pacific Front resistance and allowed the Chinese to effortlessly conquer the nation. Pro-Allied Kanegawa researchers were forced to destroy their weapon designs, and those that were not, fell into Chinese hands.

Out of desperation, the SteinsTech leader Siegfried authorized work on the Paradox Project, a secretive chrono weapon that could be the key to defeating the Soviet Union. To this end, the Europeans and the remnants of the American military, infiltrated occupied Japan and evacuated key Kanegawa scientists to assist in the Paradox Project's completion.

Throughout Europe and the Pacific, Allied resistance was thoroughly defeated. The remnants of the United States, European Alliance, and Pacific Front sheltered themselves in Great Britain, biding their time until the Paradox Project was complete.

Sino-Soviet War[]

In the Pacific theatre, the Russians had accidentally stumbled on a pro-Chinese Pacific Front base in Okawa Falls and discovered the secret Sino-Japanese pact, sparking the Sino-Soviet war. Pro-Chinese Pacific Front soldiers joined with the Chinese to assault Russia in Northern Primorsky Krai but failed, causing the Sino-Soviet war to end in a Russian victory.

Chinese-Pacific Front War[]

Tensions in the Pacific theatre did not ease after the Sino-Soviet war, as Russia's PsiCorps, who had gone rogue, sent agents that staged a false-flag attack between North Korea and South Korea, leading to a breakdown of the Sino-Japanese pact, starting a war between China and the Pacific Front. The Pacific Front attempted to deploy their new Hailstorm artillery to the Korean border, but once more, Epsilon agents sabotaged the convoy in order to ensure that Pacific region would be divided and weakened by a drawn-out conflict.

China was able to conquer Japan, putting the Pacific Front on the brink of total disintegration. In the midst of this chaos, Norio Tomokawa, a hero of the Pacific Front, led a small group of pro-Allied loyalists to retrieve what Kanegawa weapon designs they could and evacuate to Australia. During this operation, Norio was beset by Pacific Front traitors, apparently still loyal to China despite the pact's dissolution, but ultimately completed most of his objectives. Despite this, the vast majority of Kanegawa's technologies were lost to China, who folded Kanegawa's assets into their "Great Rewrite Plan" led by scientists like Yunru.

Mental Omega War[]

On 1 September 1984, Yuri's Epsilon launched a surprise attack on the Soviet Union, decapitating all of its leadership in Moscow.

Realizing the greater threat that Yuri's Epsilon posed, the Allies, including the Pacific Front, redirected their efforts to combating this psychic menace. Yuri landed a devastating blow to the Allies, by stealing an old-generation chronosphere to chronoshift his Aerial Fortress Irkalla directly into London and raze the city. As a result, the Paradox Engine, the result of the Paradox Project, was prematurely launched.

Pacific Front forces joined the Paradox expedition, which travelled south along the Atlantic, easily obliterating all Epsilon outposts in its path. The expedition rescued Kanegawa scientists in the U.S. Virgin Islands, who had secretly completed the Allied superweapon, the Weather Control Device, as well as meet with Norio and the Pacific Front survivors, who had arrived from Australia to join with the expedition. At the Virgin Islands, Pacific Front forces repelled an Epsilon naval assault attempting to deny the Allies the Weather Control Device. Further south, Yuri deployed two nuclear missile silos and a psychic amplifier in another attempt to destroy the Weather Control Device. Norio, alongside U.S. Agent Tanya Adams were dispatched to eliminate these threats deep in the Amazon rainforest

Meanwhile, Pacific Front forces helped surviving American military in Puerto Rico escape an Epsilon force threatening their position. Elsewhere, Pacific Front forces attempted to disable an amplifier in Maniema, Zaire but failed. Afterwards, Yuri tried one last desperate attempt to destroy the Paradox Engine by converting a rocket into a makeshift tactical nuke, prompting the deployment of Pacific Front and US forces to destroy it before it was completed.

With the Paradox free of nuclear threats, the expedition proceeded to Cape Town, South Africa, where the newly formed "Boomerang" regiment of the Pacific Front participated in a battle to capture and access an Epsilon communications relay. The success of this operation allowed the Allies to learn of the Mental Omega Device, Yuri's weapon of global mind control in the Antarctic. Unfortunately, this victory came at a cost, as an Epsilon strike team managed to defeat a European and Pacific Front garrison guarding a spare battery for the Paradox Engine and destroy the battery. This left the Paradox Engine vulnerable while low on power. Therefore, the Allies decided to press their advantage and move aggressively towards Yuri's tower while they could.

The Allies secured a beachhead in Antarctica then split up. Norio's forces stayed behind to deter Epsilon reinforcements arriving to Antarctica, while the main Allied force moved towards the tower. Norio's forces managed to capture several mysterious psychic women and secured them for later study. However, the captured psychics, along with Norio's forces, were eviscerated by a psychic supersoldier, named Libra, in her strange berserk rampage. Norio challenged Libra to a duel, but was killed, and his rocketeer companions fled to join with the main Allied force attacking Yuri's tower.

Deep in Antarctica, the Allies besieged the Mental Omega. The "Boomerang" division formed one of the three fronts against the tower. Although the Allies gained the upper hand, the tide turned with the arrival of Libra and Epsilon reinforcements, who obliterated the European front. Due to the collapse of the Allied rearguard, mind-controlled Epsilon reinforcements would arrive and crush the "Boomerang" division. With no other option left, the Allies attempted to use the Paradox Engine to seal the Mental Omega, but failed.

In one last desperate move, survivors of the Allied expedition, including the Pacific Front, were chronoshifted alongside the Paradox's wreckage to Point Hope, Alaska to seek refuge against the activating Mental Omega Device.

The Revolt[]

After the Chinese-Pacific Front war in 1982, members of Kanegawa Industries were folded into China's "Great Rewrite Plan", where they built advanced weapons for China's national interests.

However, their allegiances changed when Yunru was rescued from an Epsilon prison camp in 1983. Yunru realized that Epsilon was a great threat to humanity and free will itself, and thus, formed the Revolt, a multinational coalition dedicated to combating Epsilon. To this end, Yunru recruited these Kanegawa scientists, who redirected their research for the Revolt. These scientists and members of the Pacific Front military formed a new "pro-Foehn" faction.

After the destruction of the Revolt's base in Kashmir, the Revolt was forced into action and fled to Alaska. On their way ,they evacuated Kanegawa personnel in Japan and recruited additional followers from the Pacific Front. The pro-Foehn faction assisted Foehn in various battles towards Alaska, until they joined with American survivors in Point Hope, Alaska, who contacted the Allied expedition in Antarctica. Having failed to destroy the Mental Omega, the survivors of the expedition chronoshifted to Point Hope with the Paradox's wreckage.

The Remnant[]

The Mental Omega activated, threatening the free will of all humanity. The pro-Allied faction from the Paradox expedition consolidated with the pro-Foehn faction and the combined Pacific Front formed one of the defensive lines at Point Hope. The Revolt successfully defended Point Hope against an Epsilon onslaught, allowing them to erect a time bubble isolating Point Hope from the Mental Omega's influence.

The remnants of the Pacific Front were assimilated into the Foehn Revolt, in order to one day liberate the world from the Mental Omega. Outside the bubble, the Pacific Front most likely ceased to exist as they lost their free will to Epsilon's global mind control.
