History[]
The Last Bastion's origin can be traced from the Point Hope fortress in Alaska, which was the last of the American military strongholds that stood against the Soviet invasion during the Third Great War.[2] For this reason, the Revolt decides to march towards Point Hope after the battle at Bering Sea to escape from the global mind control effects of Yuri's Mental Omega Device, as Point Hope is located in the opposite side of and far away enough from the main Epsilon stronghold.[3]
However, by the time the Revolt arrives, Point Hope had fallen under Epsilon control,[2] although they managed to retake it and reach out to the Allies in Antarctica. Point Hope is crucial for the Revolt, as this is where they made their final stand against the Epsilon onslaught and the remains of the Paradox Engine is housed, which protects the fortress by a temporal barrier from its overloaded Time Freeze that places the area "out-of-sync" with the outside world, giving the Revolt the opportunity to build up their army so they could liberate the world from the Epsilon in the future.[4] As a matter of fact, "Last Bastion" might refer to Point Hope being the one and only stronghold of those free from the Mental Omega Device's global mind control.
Prototypes of the Gharial and the Mastodon have already existed during the Mental Omega War, as seen from their appearances during the battles between Soviet, Epsilon and Chinese forces in Kashmir.
