The Harrier is the fighter jet used by the European Alliance. Its HEAT (High Explosive Anti-Tank) missiles temporarily weaken the struck enemies' defense, exposing them to damage.

Description

The Harrier is the primary fighter jet for the European forces and an effective tank buster. Built with mobility in mind, this jet makes use of modern Vertical Take-Off and Landing logic, allowing for runways to be considerably smaller and in turn allowing for the aircraft to be built and rearmed right on the battlefield.

This lethal fighter is equipped with advanced High Explosive Anti-Tank missiles. When a missile hits an enemy, a large hole is blasted into the tank, exposing vulnerable systems for a short time. This allows the Harrier to either follow up with another missile for increased damage, or allow other forces to easily finish off the tank.

Overview

The harrier has received many changes when compared to its core unit, as a result one should accommodate themselves with the changes that this unit has received.

  • Unlike its original variant the Harrier is no longer equally powerful against all targets, and now is most effective against tanks.
  • The Harrier has become mediocre against other targets, especially buildings.
  • Once the Harrier has fired on a tank, the tank receives a temporary armor de-buff, allowing other Harriers or friendly forces to put down the target with ease.
  • The Harrier is now faster and more durable that it's previous iteration; it is no longer be inferior in every way to the Black eagle, unlike its core unit.
  • Much most other allied jets, the Harrier has two missiles instead of one, allowing the commander to divide the damage done equally between two targets.

Assessment

Pros

  • Able to accurately strike targets from above.
  • HEAT missiles are effective against armored vehicles.
  • Missiles decrease target armor for the next hit.
  • Can minimize AA damage if the commander micromanages well.

Cons

  • Very fragile.
  • Has to return to airbase for rearming frequently.

Quotes

The Harrier uses the voiceset of the same unit in Red Alert 2 and Yuri's Revenge.

Trivia

  • Unlike the voxel used in regular Red Alert 2 and Yuri's Revenge, the Mental Omega Harrier resembles the real-life AV-8 Harrier instead of the A-6 Intruder.
