History[]

Haihead's technology appears to originate from the efforts of Chinese researchers and Kanegawa Industries in the fields of cyberwarfare, artificial intelligence, sonic weapons, and weapons of mass destruction.

The Blackout Research Station, developed by Kanegawa Industries, is similar to the Blackout Missile used by Haihead. This station unleashed a stronger version of the Blackout Missile, as it was able to shut down all nearby enemy buildings temporarily. However, it was destroyed by Chinese invaders, in order to prevent the Pacific Front from reverse-engineering Chinese EMP technology.

During the Mental Omega War, the first Diverbees were deployed in defense of a Kanegawa Industries facility, as well the various Revolt operations in Alaska.

The Hovracoon (and its more general counterpart, the Raccoon) appear to be the successor of the Chinese Infector Tank, which possessed a similar ECM system. More generally, hacking and electronic warfare has been repeatedly demonstrated within the Chinese arsenal, such as Yunru's ability to shut down vehicles by flooding their electronics with junk data, which may have inspired Haihead's own cyberwarfare techniques.

Sonic weapons were first demonstrated by the Jackal Racer and its visual appearance suggests that Kanegawa Industries may have had a hand in its invention. These weapons would later evolve into microwave weapons, such as those used by Haihead's Shadray.

Finally, the MADMAN is an evolution of the Soviet MAD Tank, which may have been studied by Revolt scientists in China to produce a next-generation variant to combat Epsilon.

The Neonwasp's flight armor was said to be derived from "the recovered armor design of a certain hero", which was most likely the Pacific Front's Norio Tomokawa.

Trivia[]

  • The word Hai has different meanings in several languages; however, considering that the Foehn's symbol features a shark-like creature and that Haihead's "monster mech" is named after en extinct shark species, Hai most likely alludes to the noun Hai, which means "shark" in German, Finnish, & Estonian.
    • Haihead literally translates to "Shark Head" or possibly the "Shark's Head" and it may be a reference to Haihead's role as the main attack force of Foehn, who are represented by a shark. Thus, Haihead's name could be interpreted as "the attacking head of a shark".
