Bottlenose Dolphins (Tursiops truncatus) are used by the Allies as a naval reconnaissance unit in version 2.x and 1.2, respectively.

Official description[]

v2.x[]

A tricky trick in the Allied navy - a trained dolphin. With a fleet of these small but fast animals Allies can easily penetrate enemy's navy and destroy any detected underwater unit. Dolphin has a small sonic resonator mounted on it's top, which can be used for fast assault against enemy shipyards or - especially when used in swarms - can make other ships sink and animals die quickly in noisy pain. Dolphin can also prevent Epsilon's Squids from parasiting ships.[1]

v1.2[]

It is funny that Allies who are openly saying that Yuri's squids are an atrocity, use mind-controlled animals as well. Dolphins may appear as no threat, but an assumption like that will lead your new and shiny submarine fleet down to the sea floor. Aside from detection, they can also eliminate subs fairly quickly with their sonic wave amplifier. Structures cannot resist their powers too, but luckily naval defenses are more immune to Sonic Waves than Shipyards. The best way to eliminate large groups of Dolphins is to use ships like Gattling Ships as Dolphins are just animals, and bullets are deadly for most living creatures...[2]
